REC
Rescue Emergency Care
Rescue Emergency Care
is an HSE approved organisation (number 1529/95) which runs training
courses for first aid instructors, and validates courses for the
HSE certificate.
All Mediact 2 - 4 day
courses are run under REC guidelines, and certificated through
REC.
REC evolved from the first
aid courses set up by Dr Bob Phillips and colleagues for the Scottish
Ski Patrols. There was a need for a first aid course which went
beyond that taught traditionally by the National Associations.
The courses were designed to cover not only the first aid needed
to meet the HSE guidelines, which are appropriate for people in
urban environments with an ambulance never far away, but also
for people working in remote areas, where medical aid may be a
long time coming or evacuation may be required.
Workers in other industries,
such as outdoor education, heard of these courses and the demand
became such that Dr Philips set up REC in order to meet that demand,
by delivering courses himself and by training other instructors
to teach within the REC framework.
REC have a policy of continual
improvement. All course delegates are given a feedback form to
complete at the end of their course. Comments, criticisms or general
enquiries may also be made through Mediact or directly to REC.
